WHY CS-ECE

Combined, CS and ECE at Illinois have more than 150 faculty experts, all working to solve the next generation of problems in the vast array of specialties encompassed by the computer science, computer engineering, and electrical engineering fields.

Equally as diverse and talented, CS and ECE students are the next generation of researchers, scholars, academicians, and business people. We select individuals for admission into the departments who best embrace the standards of excellence our programs promote. A hands-on education at Illinois means our students learn from the best in the classroom and in the laboratory, preparing them for leadership positions in industry.

Together, the CS and ECE departments educate nearly 3,000 students across all levels, awarding a high number of bachelor's, master's, and PhD degrees annually.

Both departments are consistently ranked in the top 5. More importantly, both are well-respected nationally and globally by fellow educators and industry alike.
